Box Score FREMONT, Neb. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Midland University, 4-3, on Saturday evening at Sidner Ice Arena to win its sixth straight game.
"Our penalty kill worked really hard today and O'Toole kept us in the game, especially early on," said head coach
Frank DiCristofaro. "We need to clean some items up moving forward with another big series next weekend."
Jarrett Pfeiffer put Tech up 1-0 with 10:02 gone in the first while
Joel Holmberg made it a 2-0 contest at the 3:25 mark in the second. Midland cut the deficit down to 2-1 just a minute later, but Pfeiffer would restore the two-goal advantage with his second goal at 10:21 in the period.
The third period had three goals scored in the final 1:16 of the game, with both of Midland's goal coming with an extra attacker on the ice, while
Adam Jonak notched an empty netter for the game-winning goal.
Ryan O'Toole made 29 saves in the win while
Zach Bennett had two assists.
Tech (11-4-0) continues a five-game road trip next weekend as they take on first-year program Concordia University (Mich.). Puck drop for Friday's game is set for 8:30 p.m. from Artic Coliseum.
