Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tech Escapes Gray Wolves Lair with 79-76 Victory

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The No. 16-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team won its sixth straight game on Wednesday evening as they defeated Lourdes University, 79-76, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play inside the Ebeid Recreation Center.

Logan Primerano scored a team-high 22 points and went 6-10 from the three-point line while Darren Groves notched his seventh straight double-double, and eighth of the season, with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Joel Wincowski added 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals while Dylan Phair had 10 points and four assists.

After a 10-7 run from Lourdes to begin the game, the Warriors responded with a 13-4 spurt to go ahead 20-14 with 12:24 to play in the first. The Gray Wolves countered back with a 10-2 run to take a 24-22 advantage and the two sides would continue to trade the lead over the final 10 minutes of the half. An and-one play from Groves would prove to be the difference in the halftime score as Tech held a 41-37 lead.

The Orange and Black took hold of the game around the 15-minute mark in the second half as they rattled off 15-5 run, with Groves scoring eight of Tech's points, including six straight, to go ahead 64-50 and hold their largest lead of the night. Lourdes would not lay down lightly though as Clif Snow used an 8-0 run as part of his game-high 31 points to cut the deficit down to six points with 7:30 to play.

The Gray Wolves knotted the game up at 76-76 with 2:10 to play in the game but a free throw from Groves put Tech back up by a point with 42 seconds on the clock. Edmond Early, Jr. gave the Warriors a three-point lead with six seconds to go after converting a fast-break layup while the game-tying shot from Desmond Frazier went wide as the visitors came away with the 79-76 victory.

Tech (7-4, 4-0 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they travel to Lawrence Tech for a WHAC contest. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Don Ridler Field House.
