WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball defeated regional foe Grace College, 67-49, on Tuesday evening in nonconference play at the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center.
Alexis Hill led the way with a career-high 16 points and six rebounds while
Jenna Szostak added 12 points on 4-7 three-point shooting off the bench.
Kendall Knapke chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds while
DeAnn Kauffman had 10 points.
Tech raced out to an 11-2 lead over the Lancers in the first four minutes of the game before extending their advantage to 19-8 at the end of the quarter. Grace cut the deficit down to six points with 7:19 to play in the second quarter, but the Warriors quickly regained the double-digit advantage with an 8-0 spurt while the finished the half on a 10-3 spurt to take a 33-20 lead into the locker room at the half.
The hosts came out of the locker room with a 10-0 to cut the deficit to 40-32, but a three from Szostak started a 7-0 run for the visitors as they ended the third quarter leading 47-32. A 9-3 run to begin the fourth pushed the Warriors lead to 21 points with 7:06 to play, the largest lead of the night for the Orange and Black, as they cruised to the 67-49 win.
Tech (3-1) returns to action Saturday as they host Cincinnati Christian. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
