LIMA, Ohio – The No. 3-seeded Indiana Tech men's soccer team defeated No. 2-seeded and No. 23-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament at Racer Stadium.
The win sends the Warriors to the WHAC Tournament Championship for the first time since the 2009 season when they won the conference tournament and qualified for the NAIA National Championship for the first time since 1983.
Richard Doll scored the lone goal of the match in 88
th minute as he took the pass from
Brendan Sidaway and sent it past the Racers keeper in the lower left corner of the goal. UNOH had a chance in the final seconds but the shot was wide as the Warriors defeated the Racers for the first time in program history with the 1-0 victory.
Edwin Rosado notched his fifth shutout of the season with five saves to give Tech their 11
th clean sheet of the year.
Tech (15-4-1) reaches the 15-win plateau for the fourth time in program history and the second time since the 2016 season. The Warriors now turn their attention to the WHAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, November 10 as they host No. 4-seeded Lawrence Tech at 1 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field. The winner of the match will receive the WHAC's second automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship.
