LIVONIA, Mich. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Madonna University, 85-50, on Saturday afternoon at the Activities Center to run their winning streak to 12 games.
Jenna Szostak led all players with a career-high 23 points off the bench and converting seven three-point shots while
Kendall Knapke had 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Bella Lozano-Dobbs and
DeAnn Kauffman each chipped in nine points with the former adding four rebounds and four assists while the latter had seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Tech started off the game on an 11-0 run with Lozano-Dobbs scoring five of the team's 11 points during the spurt. The Crusaders got on the scoreboard with 5:43 to play in the quarter, but the Warriors countered right back with an 18-6 run to go up 29-8 at the end of the period, with Szostak hitting back-to-back three's to end the quarter.
Szostak continued her hot shooting in the second quarter by hitting two more triples while the visitors closed out the half on a 10-0 run and held Madonna scoreless over the last 6:38 of the quarter to enter the locker room leading 46-16. Tech kept their foot on the gas in the third period as they extended their advantage to 38 points before going on to win 85-50.
Tech (13-1, 7-0 WHAC) returns to action next week with the Southeastern University Invitational in Lakeland, Florida. The Warriors will take on Thomas University on Thursday, December 20 at 3 p.m. and No. 2-ranked Southeastern on Friday at 2 p.m. from the Furnace.
