FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Lindenwood-Belleville, 6-3, on Friday night at the SportONE/Parkview Ice House in NAIA Division action.
"I thought we found our legs midway through the second period and became to execute our fore-check well," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "Slavs (
John Slavik) made some big saves for use early on that kept us in it and our special teams executed when we needed it. I was also happy to see (Stavros) Soilis find the back of the net multiple times tonight. Overall, I was happy with the effort."
The Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the second periord, but the Warriors responded with goals from
Stavros Soilis and
Jace Childs at 12:46 and 6:22 to knot the game up at 2=2 heading into the final period.
LU-Belleville retook the lead just under two minutes into the third, but Soilis tied the game up at 3-3 with 14:43 to play while
Joe Molfetta notched the game-winning goal at 6:28 in the period.
Francesco Corona and
Mike Tish (empty-netter) would tack on insurance goals at 4:56 and 0:25, respectively, to give Tech the 6-3 win.
John Slavik made 24 saves in net to record his 11
th win of the season.
Tech (20-8-2) returns to action Saturday as they host Lindenwood-Belleville in their final home game of the regular season. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
