Quick Start Propels Warriors in Victory over Eagles

LISLE, Ill. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated NCAA Division III foe Benedictine University, 19-1, on Thursday afternoon at the Village of Lisle-BU Sports Complex.

Kristina Scott and Jennifer Banks provided the early firepower for the Warriors, with Scott putting the visitors on the scoreboard just 25 seconds into the game and making it 2-0 four minutes later, while Banks added two goals before the 19 minute mark to put Tech up 4-0. The Eagles responded with their lone goal of the contest at the 18:42 mark of the half, but the Warriors answered with six goals to end the half and headed into the locker room leading 10-1.

Scott and Banks provided a déjà vu act to begin the second as they scored the first two goals for the Orange and Black in the first three minutes of the half. Tech outscored the hosts 9-0 while limiting them to just one shot on goal in the last 20 minutes of play, and just five shots on frame for the entire match.

Banks finished with a game-high five goals while Scott had four goals and a team-high seven draw controls. Sam Vikstrom notched three goals, two assists, five ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls. Sydney Davis picked up the win with three saves in the first half.

Tech (5-1) returns to action Friday as they take on another NCAA Division III opponent in North Central College. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. EDT from Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
