NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to NCAA Division III foe North Central, 14-11, on Friday afternoon Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
The Cardinals took a 6-4 halftime lead before exploding for six straight goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to extend their advantage to 12-4. Tech began to slowly chip away at the deficit though, making it a 12-8 game with 17:52 to play after two goals each from
Kristina Scott and
Jennifer Banks.
Sam Vikstrom cut the deficit to three with 8:44 to go while
Bailey Childs tacked on pair of goals with 7:56 and 5:32 on the clock, but the hosts responded with two more goals to end the game and hold off the Warriors for the 14-11 win.
Scott finished with a game-high five goals and six ground balls while Vikstrom had six caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Sydney Davis made seven saves in the loss.
Tech (5-2) continues their road trip next Thursday as they travel to No. 8-ranked Georgetown College. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. from Toyota Stadium.
