Tech Overcomes 8-3 Halftime Deficit with 11-10 Victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team opened up its 2018 home slate on Tuesday evening as they rallied from a five-goal halftime deficit to defeat NCAA Division III foe Kalamazoo College, 11-10, at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
The Hornets opened up the game with three goals in the first five minutes to force the Warriors to call an early timeout. Tech responded with goals from Kristina Scott and Sam Vikstrom at 20:28 and 19:36, respectively, to cut the deficit down to one, but the visitors answered quickly with four consecutive goals and entered the locker room leading 8-3 after 30 minutes of play.
 
Vikstrom would score on the woman-advantage at the 24:19 to cut the deficit in half while goals from Heidi Tremaine and Scott kept the Orange and Black within striking distance. Trailing 10-6 with 6:36 to go in the game, the fourth-ranked team in the nation showed off their championship pedigree with five goals in the last seven minutes of the game as they rallied to keep their record perfect on the young season.
 
Scott started off the scoring as the hosts were down a woman with 6:36 on the clock while Bailey Childs and Tremaine shot's both found the back of the cage with 5:58 and 4:18 left in the game, respectively. Scott tied the match up at 10-10 with 3:52 to play while Vikstrom notched the game-winner with 83 seconds left to go to give Tech the 11-10 win.
 
Anna Hartman made four saves in the cage as the freshman came on in relief with 13:58 to play in the first half to pick up her first win of the season.
 
Tech (3-0) heads south this weekend as they start a six-game road trip with a pair of games in Florida starting with No. 9-ranked Keiser on Friday. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. from Arrigo-Vecellio Field.
