FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team won its 10
th game in a row as they overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat No. 8-ranked Lawrence Tech, 12-10, on Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.
The two sides, who shared the 2017 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season title, battled through the first quarter before the Blue Devils outscored the Warriors 3-1 in the second, and scored the final goal of the quarter 38 seconds before the half to take 7-4 lead into the locker room.
The Orange and Black began to chip away in the third quarter as they cut the deficit down to 10-7 with 34 seconds in the quarter with a goal from
Will McKinney, which started a 6-0 run for the Warriors.
Brandon Gates got the scoring started in the fourth with a goal at the 12:39 mark, while
Brayden Givens knotted the game up at 10 with 3:14 to play in the game.
Jace Childs put Tech up for the first time since the first quarter at the 2:08 mark while
Andrew Ryan capped the scoring with 67 seconds to play in the game as the Warriors completed the comeback and preserved their perfect season.
Evan Shuster made a career-high 20 saves in the win while Childs finished with five goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. McKinney, Givens and Shuster all finished with eight ground balls, with McKinney had two goals.
Tech (10-0, 4-0 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they travel to Concordia for a 2 p.m. game from Cardinal Stadium.
