RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 16-ranked University of Rio Grande Saturday evening at Evan Davis Field in their season opener.
The Warriors had a pair of changes early in the first half, but were unable to convert corner kicks off the foot of
Ruben Leonardo. Rio Grande got on the scoreboard in the 21
st minute and took a 1-0 lead into the locker room while holding Tech to just one shot in the opening half.
The Red Storm struck quickly in the second half with two goals just 68 seconds apart in the 63
rd and 64
th minute to take a 3-0 lead. The hosts kept up the offensive intensity by outshooting the visitors 15-1 and not allowing a shot on goal.
Ivan Safranic made six saves in his Tech debut while
Brennan Cochran notched the Warriors lone shot on the night.
Tech (0-1-0) returns to action on Tuesday, August 28 as travel to Holy Cross College for a 3 p.m. kickoff from Saints Field.
