FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team notched its first conference win Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field as they defeated Lourdes, 2-1, in double overtime.
Lily Rothert put the Warriors on the scoreboard just before the half as the collected her own shot off the crossbar and tapped into the wide-open net for the 1-0 lead. Lourdes knotted the match up at 1-1 in the 59
th minute off a set piece.
Tech had some chances to win the game in regulation but could not convert. The Gray Wolves had three shots on frame in the first overtime period, but
Christina Wynn stood tall in the goal to preserve the tie. In the 108
th minute
Kristen Roe curled one into the top left corner of the goal from just outside the box to give the Warriors three crucial points in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) standings.
Wynn finished with five saves while
Kayla Saffran,
Sydney Lemelin and Rothert each had two shots on frame.
Tech (2-7-0, 1-1-0 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host Cornerstone on Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
