Warriors Come Up Short in Road Loss to Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team fell to Lawrence Tech, 3-1, (21-25, 25-27, 29-27, 15-25), Saturday afternoon at Don Ridler Fieldhouse in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.
 
The Warriors got out to a 6-2 lead in the first before LTU came roaring back with a 5-0 run to take the lead. The hosts grew their advantage to 15-10, but Tech cut the deficit to 15-14 thanks to 4-0 spurt. The Blue Devils gained control of the set with a 6-2 spurt to take the 1-0 lead in the match.
 
The second set was a back-and-forth affair with 16 ties and seven lead changes, and neither team gaining more than a two-point advantage the whole game. Trailing 23-21, the Warriors took three of the next four points to take a 25-24 lead, but the hosts won the next three points to take a 2-0 match lead.
 
The third set was just as competitive with 15 ties and nine lead changes and neither side being able to separate by more than two points once again. The visitors fought off three set points before using a 3-0 run to get back into the match with the 29-27 win.
 
Lawrence Tech came out firing in the fourth though, using a 11-0 run to take a 16-9 lead and put them in the driver's seat to the 25-15 win to close out the match.
 
Allison Cole had a team-high 12 kills and hit .346 while Jordan Aylward and Olivia Niekamp each had 10. Aylward led the team in blocks with five. Autumn Stokes dished out 24 assists and 10 digs while Madeline MacDonald had 18 digs.
 
Tech (12-8, 6-4 WHAC) returns to action Friday, October 5 as they travel to Cornerstone for a 7 p.m. match from Mol Arena.
