FORT WAYNE Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell to the University of Saint Francis, 2-1, on Saturday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Cougars jumped out to the early lead after a turnover in the Warrior defensive end would be converted into a goal just 11 minutes into the contest. The score would hold until the 70
th minute as a USF cross was headed into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game.
Tech began to pick up the offensive intensity after that as they recorded five shots on frame in the final 20 minutes of action and cut the deficit down to one in the 82
nd minute as
Kristen Roe headed in the corner kick from
Lily Rothert. The visiting defense would hold strong in the final minutes of the game though to hand the Warriors their second straight loss.
Ally Zenda made three saves in goal while Rothert led the team with three shots on frame.
Tech (1-4-0) returns to action on Friday, September 14 as they host Taylor University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
