ANGOLA, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's indoor track and field team returned to action on Saturday for the first time since December 8, 2018 as they made the short trip up I-69 to Trine University for the Sean Brady/Keith Turner Alumni Open inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center, winning the meet with 241.66 points.
Kejavon Moore set the fastest time in the nation in the 60 meters as he ran a 6.79 to finish in second place to 2017 Tech graduate
Wayne Sherbahn.
John Jones would also hit the NAIA "A" standard as he took third in 6.81, the second-fastest time in the nation, while
Matt Lockridge was fourth in 6.92 to hit the provisional mark. Moore and Jones would also take second and third in the 200m with times of 22.37 and 22.66, respectively, with Moore hitting the NAIA "B" standard.
Kudzanai Karawira finished first in the mile with a time of 4:33.26 while
Dillan Cerny was second in the 800m with a time of 2:00.83.
Anthony Frank would cross the finish line in 8:51.68 to take second in the 3000m while
Logan Bloir was third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.01.
Christian Bikim, Kadan Branam and Keshawn McGill would all hit the "A" standard in the long jump with marks of 2.07m/6-9.5, 2.02m/6-7.5 and 2.02m/6-7.5 to finish in first and second, respectively. They now hold the third and seventh-longest marks in the nation, while Bikim's mark in a career-best.
In the pole vault,
Matteo Madrassi cleared 4.90m/16-0.75 on his first attempt to win the event and hit the automatic qualifying mark with the second-highest mark in the nation.
Alfredo Smith won the long jump with a mark of 7.06m/23-2 while Shomari Sommerville and
Malik Johnson went 1-2 in the triple jump with marks of 14.52m/47-7.75 and 14.37m/47-1.75, respectively.
Nathan Riley won the shot put with a mark of 15.53m/50-11.5.
Tech returns to action on Friday, January 18 with the Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech University. Meet time is set for 10 a.m. from the Sports Performance Center.
