Warriors Drop First Home Contest of the Year to Madonna

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to Madonna University, 85-73, on Saturday afternoon inside the Schaefer Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

Logan Primerano scored a team-high 21 points while adding six rebounds and four assists while Josh Kline added 10 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks for the first double-double of his career. Dylan Phair added nine points and three rebounds while Edmond Early, Jr. had eight points and three rebounds. Lucas Lehrman added seven rebounds and eight rebounds.

The Warriors got out ahead 14-9 following a breakaway dunk from Max Huber and a triple from Primerano, but the Crusaders responded with back-to-back three pointers to take their first lead of the game at 15-14 with 12:17 to play in the first. The two sides continued the back-and-forth affair over the next several minutes until a 10-0 run from the Warriors and a four minute and 12 second scoreless drought for the Crusaders put Tech up 40-29 with 2:17 left in the half. The Orange and Black held a 12-point lead just seconds prior to the half before the visitors converted a trio of free throws with one second left in the period to make it a 43-34 game at the break.

The Crusaders came out firing to begin the second half with a 15-6 run to tie the game up at 49-49 just three and a half minutes into the period. After a free throw from Mitch Morken put Tech back ahead by a point, Madonna went on a 9-0 run to take a 58-50 lead with 13:39 to play. The Warriors came back to tie it up at 60-all at the 9:28 mark following a 10-2, but a 14-3 run by Madonna, along with a two minute and 54 second scoring drought from the Warriors, put the visitors ahead74-63 with 4:16 left on the clock. A triple from Phair made it an eight-point on their next possession, but that would be as close as the Warriors would get down the stretch as the Crusaders snapped the hosts three-game winning streak.

Tech (15-10, 11-4 WHAC) returns to action next Saturday, January 2, as they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
