Warriors Run Away From Wolverines in Senior Day Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 74-58, on Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action on Senior Day inside the Schaefer Center.
 
Dylan Phair scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds while Mitch Morken added 11 points and three rebounds off the bench. David Froedge scored a career-high 10 points while Josh Kline added nine points and three rebounds.
 
Lucas Lehrman scored the first eight points of the game for the Warriors as the hosts got out to an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game. A 5-0 run from the Wolverines would put them ahead 11-10, but a layup from Edmond Early, Jr. started a 7-0 spurt for Tech to put them up 17-11 at the 12:54 mark.
 
Tech extend their lead up to eight points with 9:40 to play in the half, but the visitors used a 7-0 run to take a 24-23 lead with 2:36 to play in the period. Five quick points from Tech made it a 28-24 game at the half though.
 
UM-Dearborn came out of the locker room on a 7-0 run to begin the second half, but the Warriors responded with a 5-0 spurt to go up 34-31. Tech would take control of the game with a 16-3 run and held the Wolverines scoreless for nearly five minutes to go up 68-53 with 1:42 to play. The visitors cut the deficit down to 10 points with 1:14 left on the clock, but the hosts went 6-6 from the free throw line in the final 65 seconds to ice the game away.
 
Tech (16-10, 12-4 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, February 6 as they travel to Siena Heights University. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the Siena Heights Fieldhouse.
