Tech Downs Cardinals for Sixth Straight Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team extended its winning streak to six wins Wednesday evening inside Warrior Athletic Field as they defeated Concordia University, 4-1, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

Scott McCarthy scored his third and fourth goals of the season while Jaime Tenorio notched his first goal of the year. Luke Jones scored Tech's first goal of the night while Edwin Rosado improved to 8-2 on the season.

The Warriors struck early as Noe Garcia found Jones in front of the goal as the former was dribbling along the goal line in the eighth minute to make it a 1-0 game. Tech appeared to be headed into the break with a one-goal lead, but two quick strikes in the final five minutes of the period to make it a 3-0 match. McCarthy made it 2-0 as he headed in a cross from Ryan Steele while Tenorio curled in a free kick from 25 yards out to make it a 3-0 match.

The hosts didn't waste much time to begin the second half as McCarthy pounced on a rebound in the box from a Garcia shot and tapped the ball into the net to make it a 4-0 Tech lead. The Cardinals erased the shutout just three minutes later though with a ball and found its way through the box.

The visitors had three more shots on frame over the final 40 minutes of the game, but never really threatened the Orange and Black who kept their conference record unblemished.

Tech (9-4-0, 6-0-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Lawrence Technological University for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff from Blue Devils Stadium.
