FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to No. 4-ranked University of Michigan-Dearborn, 3-1, on Friday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
"Tonight was not our best effort," said head coach
Frank DiCristofaro. "With that said, we had several high quality scoring chances and didn't capitalize. They got a couple odd bounces to go their way and that was the difference in the game."
The Wolverines struck first in the first, but
Cam Chabot knotted it up at 1-1 in the second as the Warriors found their stride. UM-Dearborn answered right back though with another goal at the 2:26 mark, while Sterling Cooper made it a 3-1 game with a power play goal to begin the third period for his second goal of the night.
Alex Potter and
Cole Barney notched the assists while
Ryan O'Toole made 23 saves.
Tech (4-2-0, 2-1-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they host UM-Dearborn in a rematch. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
