Warriors Rally From 2-0 Deficit to Earn Draw with Cougars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team concluded its regular season home schedule Wednesday evening with a 2-2 draw against Cleary University in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at Warrior Athletic Field.

Tech found itself down 2-0 in the first half as the Cougars scored in the 23rd and 26th minute to get up on the conference leaders. The Warriors turned up the offensive intensity in the second half though, outshooting Cleary 20-4. Scott McCarthy put the hosts on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute with a strike inside the box before Malte Dennert tied the match up in the 77th minute.

The Warriors had a pair of shots on target in the final three minutes of regulation, but were stopped by Cougar keeper Juan Gomez, who finished the match with 13 saves, to send the game into overtime. Tech held possession for the majority of the extra periods, just the third time this season the Orange and Black have needed longer than 90 minutes to decide a game, but could not find the back of the net and settled for their first draw of the season while picking up a point in the standings.

Edwin Rosado made three saves in the match while Luke Jones and Angel de Jorge picked up assists.

Tech (11-4-1, 8-0-1 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Michigan.
