Warriors Hold Off Wolverines in Road Win

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at Gabriel Richard High School.

Brendan Sidaway scored twice for the Warriors and notched an assist while Luke Jones and Scott McCarthy scored the other two goals, with the former also getting credit for an assist. Edwin Rosado made three saves in goal to improve to 11-2-1 on the season.

Sidaway put the Orange and Black ahead early as he scored in the eighth minute of the game. The Wolverines were only able to muster up two shots on frame in the first half, both of which were stopped by Rosado, while Jones made it a 2-0 game just 67 seconds into the second half.

UM-Dearborn answered right back though with a goal from Brendan Petz in the 53rd minute to put some momentum back on the hosts side, but McCarthy restored the two-goal lead with his sixth goal of the season in the 69th minute to make it a 3-1 game.

The Wolverines put the pressure back on Tech with their second goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute, but Sidaway was able to give the visitors a sigh of relief as he found the back of the net in the 86th minute to put the hosts away.

Tech (12-4-1, 9-0-1 WHAC) concludes the regular season on Tuesday as they travel to No. 22-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio for their regular season finale. The Warriors need a win or draw to capture their first-ever WHAC regular season title while a loss give the Racers the conference crown by a point. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. from Racers Stadium.
