FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 22
nd-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to No. 9-ranked Davenport University, 2-1, on Homecoming Friday evening inside the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
"We didn't start on time tonight and they took advantage of that," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "We were sloppy at times and didn't get some bounces. We need to clean some things up for a quick turnaround tomorrow."
The Panthers came out of the gates on fire as they scored twice in the opening five minutes of the game, with Jason Cohan scoring both goals just 69 seconds apart in the opening period.
Joel Holmberg gave the Warriors some life in the third period by bringing the sellout crowd to their feet with a goal at the 16:09 mark, but DU goalie Jason Rhynold stood tall in the net to spoil the Homecoming Festivities.
Tech (1-1-0) returns to action on Saturday evening as they host Eastern Michigan in a nonconference game. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
