FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell to Madonna University, 3-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.
Riley Stafford made a career-high 11 saves in the loss while
Sydney Lemelin had two shots on goal. Madonna's Megan Verant scored all three goals in the match.
The Warriors opened the game on the offensive as
Hadley Hopkins got a shot on net in the seventh minute and
Molly Ames had a shot go off the crossbar in the 14
th minute, but the Crusaders struck in the 21
st minute as Verant took advantage of a misplay in the box for her first goal of the night.
Madonna kept their foot on the gas pedal with 13 shots, five on them on frame, and controlled the action through the rest of the first half, but the Warriors found themselves trailing just 1-0 at the break. Verant notched her second goal of the dame in the 53
rd minute as she headed one past Stafford following a corner kick while she blasted in her third goal in the 82
nd minute as a ball was placed into the box and sent home.
Tech (4-7-0, 0-4-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, October 12 as they host Siena Heights University in a conference battle. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
