Warriors Rally From Late Deficit to Defeat Rochester in Overtime

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The No. 23-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team overcame an eight-point deficit in the final minutes of regulation to defeat Rochester University in overtime, 85-83, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action Wednesday evening inside Garth Pleasant Arena.

Jeremy Davison scored a career-high 21 points off the bench and went 5-7 from behind the three-point line while Josh Kline had 15 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Max Huber added 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists while Mitch Morken chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds. Cory McKinney had 10 points, eight assists and two rebounds off the bench.

Rochester appeared to put the game out of reach with 1:44 left to play in regulation thanks to a 9-0 run that gave the hosts a 71-63 lead, but a layup from Kline and triple from Davison made it a 71-68 with 1:06 on the clock. Tech kept it a one-possession game over the next over the last 30 seconds to give themselves a chance at overtime and Davison delivered in the clutch with the game-tying three with three seconds left to play to knot the game up at 75.

The two teams traded points over the first three minutes of the extra period, with the score knotted up at 79-79 and 2:42 on the clock. A jumper from Morken put the Orange and Black up 81-79 while a basket from Kline with 87 seconds left made it an 83-79 advantage for the visitors. Armand Cartwright, who led all players with 25 points, nailed a triple with 27 seconds left to make it a one-point game, but Davison pushed the lead back up to three with a layup at the 20-second mark. Rochester would miss a game-tying three, but grabbed the offensive rebound to get a trip to the free throw line following a foul by Tech, but only converted one of two shots from the charity stripe with two seconds to play and the Warriors were able to hang on for the 85-83 win.

Tech (2-5, 1-1 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they head to No. 12-ranked Cornerstone University. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Mol Arena.
