Warriors Lock Down Blue Devils

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 23-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Lawrence Technological University, 70-55, Tuesday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action inside the Schaefer Center.
 
Josh Kline had a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds to go along with four assists, two blocks and two steals. Max Huber added 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Mitch Morken and Cory McKinney each had 10 points, with the latter adding six rebounds and two blocks.
 
The Warriors raced out to an 8-2 lead thanks to a pair of triples from Morken and McKinney that forced the Blue Devils to take a timeout with 16:13 on the clock. The Orange and Black maintained their lead for the rest of the half, with LTU getting to within four points at 17-13 with 9:49 to play in the half, but a 10-0 run from the hosts put them ahead 27-13 with 4:18 remaining. A triple from Jordan Henry, who scored 17 points, snapped a 6:27 scoring drought for the Blue Devils, but a 9-2 run from the hosts extended their lead to 38-20 at the break.
 
Tech built its lead up to 44-24 with 17:37 to go in the game and looked poised to cruise to a comfortable win, but the visitors made a run as they got to within 10 points at 55-45 with 7:33 to play thanks to a 7-1 run. A 10-3 spurt brought the Blue Devils within four points at 59-55 and 3:36 to work with, but the Warriors responded with an 11-0 run to end the game and take the 70-55 win. Back-to-back layups from Kline and a triple from McKinney sealed the victory, while Huber scored the final four points of the game and capped the victory with a fast break dunk off the an LTU turnover.
 
Tech (3-6, 2-2 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, November 30 as they take on NCAA Division II foe Grand Valley State University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
