FRASER, Mich. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Rochester University, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action inside Fraser Hockeyland.
"Our special teams weren't the greatest today, but I'm proud of our guys battling through a short turnaround time from last night's game," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said.
Joel Holmberg put the Warriors on the scoreboard first at the 13:06, while
Mike Tish broke a 1-1 tie at the 7:48 mark in the second to put Tech up 2-1.
Cameron Wirick made it a 3-1 game in favor of the Orange and Black just over 90 seconds away from the second intermission on a short-handed opportunity.
Bobby Frieson made it a 4-1 game just under four minutes into the third while
Zach Bennett made it a 5-2 game at the 4:25 mark in the third to respond to a Rochester goal scored just over a minute before.
Ryan O'Toole made 12 saves in the win to improve to 4-2 on the season while seven different Warriors recorded assists on the day.
Tech (11-2-0, 7-1-0 WHAC) returns to action next Friday as they host Concordia University (Mich.) to start a home-and-home set. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
