LINCOLN, Ill. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team won its fourth straight game Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Lincoln College, 61-51, inside Jack D. Nutt Arena.
Cory McKinney and
Josh Kline each scored 17 points in the win with the former adding five rebounds, five assists and three steals while the latter collected nine boards.
Mitch Morken chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds while
Lucas Lehrman had six points and seven rebounds.
After falling behind 5-2 early, the Warriors went on an 8-0 run, with Kline scoring six of the points, to take a 10-5 lead. The Lynx broke a 5:33 scoreless drought with a pair of free throws at the 12:57 mark in the first half and eventually cut the deficit down to two points with 5:42 to play until the half following a 7-0 run. An and-one play from Kline pushed the lead back up to five points at 22-17, but back-to-back three pointers from the hosts gave them the lead at the 3:14 mark. The two teams traded baskets over the final three minutes of the period with the Warriors holding a 30-29 lead at the break.
The start of the second half was an intense battle with Tech holding the slimmest of leads, never holding more than a three-point advantage until the 12:49 mark when a jumper from Kline put the Orange and Black up 40-35. An 8-0 run from the visitors extended their advantage to 12 points at 52-40 with six minutes to go in the game while they pushed the lead to as many as 15 with 3:12 left on the clock. Darnell Latham, Jr., who finished the game with 18 points, went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit down to 58-51 with 90 seconds to play, but that would be all the Lynx would get as the Warriors came away with the win.
Tech (7-7) returns to action on Friday, December 20 as they head to Richmond, Indiana to battle Indiana University East in the First Bank Richmond Classic. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. from Lingle Court.
