Tech Outlast Saints in Knockdown Thriller

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Siena Heights University, 76-75, on Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action inside the SHU Fieldhouse.

Josh Kline led the team with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks while Max Huber had 12 points. Mitch Morken and Cory McKinney each chipped in 11 points each with the former adding six rebounds and three assists and the latter had five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Dilyn Good connected on three triples for nine points off the bench.

The Warriors got out to a 10-2 lead at the 15:53 mark following six straight points from Kline while the McKinney scored the final four points of the run. A 13-4 run extended Tech's lead to 28-14 with 7:28 to play in the first half. The Saints would score 16 points in the final seven minutes of the period, but were overshadowed by the Warriors who held a 45-32 lead at the break thanks to a 60% field goal percentage and 87.5% three-point shooting.

Tech grew its lead up to 16 points early in the second half, but a pair of free throws from Keith Jordan, Jr. sparked a 6-0 run that made it a 54-44 game with 14:23 to go in the game. Jordan, who scored 12 points in the second half, teamed up with DeMarco Dickerson and Jon Hovermale, who had 24 and 20 points, respectively, to help the Saints shoot 51.6% from the floor and 55.6% from three-point range in the second half as they came storming back with a 16-2 run to take a 60-59 lead with 7:14 to play. A three-pointer from Huber snapped a 3:12 scoring drought for the Warriors, who had scored just two points over the last seven minutes, put the Warriors back on top and started an 11-6 run for the visitors.

The Saints found themselves back on top with 12 second remaining following a triple from Dickerson, but Morken grabbed a rebound off a Saints block and got a layup to go down with four seconds to play and give the Warriors the 76-75 victory.

Tech (5-7, 4-2 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, December 14 as they travel to Goshen College for their second of four straight road games. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Ruth Gunden Gymnasium.
