Tech Extends Win Streak to 17 Games with 3-2 Victory over Midland

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated North American Intercollegiate Hockey Association (NAIHA) foe Midland University, 3-2, on Friday evening inside the SportONE/Parkview Ice House to notch its 17th straight victory.

Midland got on the board first with 8:47 left in the first, but the Warriors responded with 5:20 to go in the period as Francesco Corona lit the lamp to tie the game up at 1-1. Jarrett Pfeiffer put the Orange and Black up 2-1 with 3:22 on the clock in the second while Stavros Soilis seemed to put the game out of reach with an empty-netter and 74 seconds left in the game.

The visiting Warriors made things interesting though, as they netted a power play goal with 34 seconds to go in the game and had a chance to tie the game            in the last 10 seconds, but Ryan O'Toole shut the door with his 24th save of the game to keep the win streak going and improve his record to 11-3-0 on the season.

Joel Holmberg recorded two assists on the night while Zach Bennett, Corona and Soilis also received credit for assists.

Tech (22-3-0) continues a busy weekend with game two against Midland on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
