HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the University of South Carolina Beaufort on Sunday afternoon with a 14-7 victory at Richard Gray Baseball Complex.
The Warriors kicked the scoring off right away with a three-run first, all coming with two outs.
Glen McClain started the rally with a four-pitch walk while
Branson Dossen drove in his courtesy runner,
Jashaun Simon, with a double to right center. Dossen scored in the next at-bat as
Jake DeFries drove in him with a single before DeFries scored on a
Kyle Harvey single. The Sand Sharks came back right away with four runs in the bottom of the frame with four hits.
Dossen gave the Warriors the lead back in the third with a double while DeFries knocked in Dossen again to make it a 6-4 game. A bases-loaded walk to Dossen in the sixth was followed up by a two-RBI double from DeFries extended the lead to 11-5.
Dan Shaw picked up the win after throwing 5.2 innings in relief while allowing seven hits and striking out four. Dossen and DeFries each picked up three hits and drove in four runs each while Harvey was 3-5 with two RBI.
Tech (11-4) continues their spring break trip on Tuesday with a three-game series against No. 3-ranked Faulkner University. First pitch of Tuesday's doubleheader is set for 6 p.m. EST from Harrison Field.
