MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team split with No. 3-ranked Faulkner University Tuesday night at Harrison Field to begin their three-game series. Tech dropped the first game, 3-0, before taking game two 3-1.
The Eagles took the lead in the fourth off an errant throw before using five hits to push across two more runs in the sixth. Tech got a baserunner on in the seventh inning with one out, but the hosts got the final two outs to complete the shutout.
Nate McBroom took the loss after scatting seven hits over six innings and allowing just two earned runs.
Trevor MacDonald had two of the team's hits and notched a double.
The Warriors scored first in the night cap as
Grant Heisinger drove in
Reese Olden with a two-out single to center. A leadoff homer from
Jacob Alvidrez in the third made it a 2-0 lead while
Glen McClain scored five batters later on a double from
Jake Ritson.
Faulkner managed to push across a run in the fourth, but
Landon Bloir wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam with two outs to keep the damage to just one run.
Joe Pratt came in to close out the game in the fifth to pick up the and struck out three batters in 2.2 innings of work. Alvidrez went 3-4 in the game while Ritson picked up a double.
Tech (12-5) returns to action on Wednesday as they conclude their three-game set with Faulkner. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. EST from Harrison Field.
