Warriors Fall to Eagles in Slugfest

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team fell to No. 3-ranked Faulkner University, 16-12, on Wednesday afternoon at Harrison Field.

Glen McClain put the Warriors up 2-0 three batters into the game with a homer to straight away center while the Orange and Black put up seven runs in the third to go up 9-1. A one-out RBI single from Jake DeFries got the scoring going in the third while a bases-loaded walk to Jake Ritson made it a 4-1 game. Trevor MacDonald drove in a pair of runs with a single before scoring two batters later on an errant throw.

The Eagles came back strong in the bottom of the third though, using a two-run homer and a grand slam, the latter coming with two outs, to go up 10-9. Faulkner would then put up a four-spot one inning later thanks to four hits and a pair of Tech errors to extend their advantage to 14-9.

A two-out error from the hosts extended the Warriors chances in the sixth as they score two more runs after that to cut the deficit to 14-12 with three innings to play. Faulkner would put up two more runs in the seventh and limited Tech to just two base runners over the final two innings to take the series finale.

MacDonald finished with a team-high three RBI while McClain and Ritson each drove in two runs. MacDonald, McClain, DeFries, Moises Lopez and Reese Olden all recorded two hits, with Lopez legging out a double and Olden smashing a double.

Tech (12-6) concludes their spring break road trip with a visit to No. 4-ranked Georgia Gwinnet College this weekend. Game one of the three-game series is set for 4 p.m. Friday from the Grizzly Baseball Complex.
