Tech Falls to Number One Bees in Top-Five Matchup

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to No. 1-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), 25-16, in a rematch of the 2018 NAIA National Invitational Championship, on Saturday afternoon at the SCAD Athletic Complex.

The Bees came out the gates firing as they scored four goals in the first four minutes of the game, with Sydney Knego, the MVP of the National Invitational last year, scoring a hat trick in the first three minutes and three seconds of the contest. Tech battled back to cut the deficit to 5-3 with 22:10 to play in the half thanks to goals from Jordyn Brooks and Abbey Wilson, but SCAD responded with four goals in the next four minutes to extend their lead to 9-3.

The scoring continued through the rest of the half with the Bees scoring 11 more times to take a 20-9 lead into the half. SCAD pushed their advantage up to 24-11 with 7:54 to go in the game and while the Warriors put five goals on the scoreboard after that, they couldn't complete the comeback as they fell 25-16.

Jennifer Banks scored a team-high five goals and added two assists for seven points while McKenna Mesclier and Wilson each had a hat trick. Sydney Davis made 13 saves in the loss.

Tech (1-2) returns to action on Saturday, March 23 as they host Aquinas College in their home and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener and Senior Day. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
