FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team opened up its 2019 home slate and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) scheduled with a 19-3 victory over Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon as the team celebrated Senior Day at Warrior Athletic Field.
Jennifer Banks scored 21 seconds into the game to put the Warriors ahead 1-0 while
McKenna Mesclier gave Tech a 2-1 lead at the 26:40 mark to start a 5-0 run for the hosts.
Bailey Childs scored twice in the 5-0 run while
Abby Barkdull and
Abbey Wilson also found the back of the cage.
The Saints stopped the run at the 12:33 mark, but the Orange and Black responded with six more goals to close out the first half and a take a 12-2 lead into the intermission. The second half would feature more Tech scoring as they out-scored the visitors 7-1 to cap off the victory.
Barkdull and Wilson each scored a team-best four goals while Childs and Mesclier each had a hat trick. Childs and Banks both notched a team-best six points while Mesclier won five draws and picked up five ground balls to lead the team.
Sydney Davis made six saves in the cage to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Tech (2-2) returns to action Monday with a visit from No. 3-ranked University of the Cumberlands. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
