Tech Takes Down Midland for NAIHA National Championship

ANTOICH, Tenn. – The Indiana Tech men's hockey team completed its fifth season on Sunday evening with a 3-2 victory over Midland University in the championship game of the North American Intercollegiate Hockey Association (NAIHA) National Tournament inside the Ford Ice Center to win its first-ever national championship.

"All season long we talked about "family first" and how we all want to go in the same direction," head coach Frank DiCristofaro said. "This team did that. We were truly a family this year and I couldn't be happier for this group."

Ryan Attwood scored with 24.4 seconds to go off a rebound from behind the net to put the Warriors up for good after Midland tied the game up with 6:04 left on the clock. Alex Gregorich gave Tech the lead first with 12:31 to play in the first period while Zach Bennett made it a 2-0 game with 9:16 left in the second on the power play. Midland cut the deficit in half with 8:31 left in the second, but after tying it up at the 6:04 mark in the third, it would be the last time that Bryson Linenburg allowed a puck past him as the freshman netminder finished with 14 saves in the win. Linenburg finished the season 18-0-0.

Tech finishes the 2018-19 season with a record of 34-3-0, the best in program history and claimed the national championship with their 29th straight victory.
