Box Score ST. LOUIS – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team extended its winning streak to 22 games on Friday evening as they defeated Lindenwood University – Belleville in overtime, 5-4, inside the FSI Shark Tank.
"We had a ton of special teams play today that we had to manage," said head coach
Frank DiCristofaro. "I was happy with our guys overcoming adversity the way they did. Lindy (
Bryson Linenburg) made a huge save on a 2-0 break for them in overtime that gave us the lift we needed in the end."
The Warriors exploded for three goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead, with
Adam Jonak scoring all three goals for Tech.
Adam Vannelli scored with just over six minutes left in regulation to put Tech up 4-3, but the Lynx tied it up at 4-4 just over a minute later.
After Linenburg's save in overtime,
Jarrett Pfeiffer scored at the 3:34 mark to give the Warriors the win and keep their win streak alive. Linenburg finished the night with 23 saves to improve to 14-0 on the season. Pfeiffer,
Zach Bennett and
Mike Tish each recorded two assists.
Tech (27-3-0) closes out the regular season on Saturday as they take on Lindenwood in a rematch. Puck drop is set for 9 p.m. EST from the FSI Shark Tank.
