GAINESVILLE & DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Indiana Tech men's outdoor track and field team wrapped up a busy weekend of action as they sent a contingent of athletes to compete in the Pepsi Florida Relays and the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic over multiple days.
Brandon Smiley took 10
th in the open portion of the 200 meters in Gainesville with an NAIA "A" standard time of 20.80, the top time in the country, while
Qadir Muhammad hit the provisional mark in the open 400m as he crossed the finish line in 48.32.
Coby Bailey hit the "B" standard in the 110m hurdles by running a 14.92.
The 4x100m relay of Landon Bloir,
Matt Lockridge, Bailey and Smiley ran a 40.68 to hit the "A" standard and hold the top mark in the country. The 4x200m relay of
Gairy Springer, Muhammad, Chale McLeod and Bloir ran a 1:25.61 to finish 17
th. The 4x400m squad of Springer, Smiley, McLeod and Muhammad hit the "A" standard with a time of 3:10.66.
At Embry-Riddle
Jesse Frimpong ran a 15.07 to finish eighth in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles while
Logan Bloir was 14
th and 11
th in the prelims of the 100m and 200m with times of 10.91 and 22.11, respectively.
Tech returns to action on Saturday, April 6 with the George Glass Invitational at Taylor University. Meet time is set for 11 a.m. from the George Glass Track and Field Complex.
