LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team dropped two games to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Madonna University on Sunday afternoon, falling 7-0 and 6-4 at University Field on the Madonna Athletic Campus.
The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a leadoff triple, double and a single. The hosts added a single run in the third while they put up a 4-0 spot in the sixth after four hits and a walk to put the game out of reach.
Tech took advantage of a pair of errors in the first inning of game two, with the speed of
Brianna Glass while
Emily Martin drove in
Payton Robinson with an RBI single. Madonna knotted the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the second while
Ali LeNoue tied the game back up at 3-3 in the fifth thanks to a two-out double.
A four-hit inning by the Crusaders in the bottom of the frame pushed across three more runs to give the hosts a 6-3 lead. Martin drove in
Kari LaFreniere following a leadoff triple in the sixth, but that would be the last run the Warriors would score as Madonna completed the sweep.
Jaden Romero scatted nine hits and three runs across 5.1 innings of work.
Tech 14-19 (6-6 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, April 10. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. from the Concordia Softball Field.
