HOWELL, Mich. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated Cleary University, 25-9, on Monday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at Lake Trust Stadium.
The two teams traded goals over the first seven minutes of the game, but a goal from
McKenna Mesclier started a 12-0 run for the Warriors over the next 16 minutes that put the game out of reach. Five different Tech players scored during the run, including three from Mesclier,
Abby Barkdull and
Jennifer Banks.
After taking a 15-4 lead into the locker room at the half, the Warriors continued to hold a 10-goal lead over the final 30 minutes of the game and used a 4-0 spurt to push their advantage to 22-7 with 11:35 to go in the game. Cleary scored the next three goals but three goals from the visitors in the final six minutes of play made it a 25-9 final score.
Banks finished with a game-high six goals while Mesclier had five goals.
Sydney Davis made 11 saves in the win.
Tech (8-2, 6-0 WHAC) steps out of conference action on Wednesday as they host No. 5-ranked Marian University. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
