FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated No. 5-ranked Marian University, 15-12, on Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.
Tech raced out to a 7-2 lead in the first 12 minutes of the games thanks to a 3-0 and a pair of 2-0 runs.
Abby Barkdull and
Jennifer Banks each recorded a hat trick in the first half to propel the Warriors to a 10-5 lead at the half.
The Knights came out with a fury to begin the second half as they scored three times in the first four minutes to cut the deficit to 10-8. The two sides traded goals over the next 10 minutes but goals from Barkdull and
Halli Reinhard at the 7:32 and 4:36 marks, respectively, pushed the Warrior lead to 14-10.
Marian got one more shot to tie the game as they scored twice in the final four minutes to make it a 14-12 game with 90 seconds left on the clock, but Banks sealed the win with her fourth goal of the game and 17 seconds remaining.
McKenna Mesclier joined Banks and Barkdull in the four-goal category while Banks added two assists to collect a game-high six points. Mesclier and
Bailey Childs each won three draws while
Maddi Jarvis picked up five ground balls.
Sydney Davis made 11 saves in the win.
Tech (9-3) returns to conference action on Saturday as they host No. 8-ranked Lawrence Tech in their final home game of the season. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
