Warriors Swept by Blue Devils

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team was swept by Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Park in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader, falling 5-1 and 2-0 in 11 innings.

Ali LeNoue drove in Brianna Glass with a single up the middle in the third to put the Warriors on the scoreboard first, but the Blue Devils responded with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead. Four straight hits from LTU led to two runs for the visitors in the fifth while two hits, an error and a fielder's choice gave them their first two runs in the fourth.

The Warriors were able to get runners to second in both the fourth and sixth innings, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities as they fell 5-1.

The second game saw the two teams fail to put a run on the scoreboard until the 11th inning, when LTU use a single and a three-base error on a misplay in the outfield to push across a pair of runs and complete the sweep.

Jaden Romeo pitched all 11 innings in the nightcap and scattered 14 runs over her 116 pitches.

Tech (14-22, 6-9 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. from Gary L. Bryce Field on the campus of Wayne State University.
