FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated Taylor University, 17-4, on Wednesday evening on Senior Night inside Warrior Athletic Field, to conclude its home slate.
Tech launched a blitzkrieg on the Trojans in opening five minutes of the game as they scored five times, with the last two goals coming just 24 seconds apart.
Noah Puckett scored the first two goals of the contest while
Chandler Peterson and
Justin Hindman capped the scoring run. Peterson answered the visitor's lone goal of the first half with his second of the period at the 39-second mark.
The Warriors kept on the gas pedal in the second as they scored four more times to take a 10-1 lead into the locker room at the half. The scoring continued into the second half as the hosts tacked on seven more goals as they ended their regular season home schedule with a 6-1 mark.
Puckett and
Emmett Coleman each scored four times while
Chandler Peterson dished out six assists, scored twice and picked up seven ground balls.
Ian Tyburski recorded nine ground balls while
Andrew Neller was 12-17 in the faceoff zone.
Evan Schuster made five saves in 30 minutes of action while
Chad Nedbal had eight stops in the second half.
Tech (12-2, 6-1 WHAC) concludes the regular season on Saturday as they travel to No. 9-ranked Siena Heights University for a chance to claim a share of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) title and the number one seed in next week's WHAC Tournament. Opening faceoff is set for 11 a.m. from O'Laughlin Stadium.
