HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's outdoor track and field team had a spectacular weekend at the 53
rd Annual Hillsdale "Gina" Relays as the had two student-athletes hit the top marks in their respective events and recorded 10 points to finish in a tie for eighth place at Ken Herrick Track.
Cayce Griffin set the school record in the 10,000 meters with an automatic qualifying time of 30:21.52 and now holds the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Matt Lockridge ran a 10.30 to win the 100m and now holds the fastest time in the nation and the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Qawtavis Johnson and
Jesse Frimpong went 2-3 in the 100m with times of 10.56 and 10.63, respectively, while
Shomari Somerville took third in the high jump with a mark of 2.04m/6-8.25.
Malik Johnson won the long jump with a mark of 7.13m/23-4.75 while
Nathan Riley was second in the shot put with a mark of 15.92m/52-2.75.
Tech now turns its attention to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Outdoor Championships, set for May 2-3 at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Michigan.
