FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated Lawrence Tech, 13-11, on Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at Harrison High School.
The Warriors found themselves down 5-1 after 15 minutes of play, but battled back with three goals in the second to make it an 8-4 game at the half.
Ian Tyburski kicked off a three goal in 70-second spurt at the 11:20 mark in the third while
Noah Puckett made it a one-goal game at the 10:10 mark.
Tech continued to battle back as they tied the game up at 9-9 and 10-10 thanks to goals from
Emmett Coleman and
Chandler Peterson. LTU went ahead with 8:20 to go in the game, but the Warriors answered 25 seconds later on a goal from
Justin Hindman while Coleman gave the Orange and Black their first lead of the game with six minutes left on the clock. The visitors maintained possession over the final six minutes of the game and added on an insurance goal from Peterson at the 4:46 mark to complete the comeback.
Peterson finished with four goals while Hindman had two goals and two assists.
Andrew Neller picked up five ground balls while
Jordan Reyes and
Tom Piotrowski each caused two turnovers.
Evan Schuster made 14 saves in the cage to pick up the win.
Tech (9-2, 3-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to conference-leading Aquinas College. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. from the AQ Athletic Field.
