MARION, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team fell to regional rival Indiana Wesleyan in overtime, 2-1, on Friday evening at the IWU Soccer Field.
The two teams were in a battle all night long, with the Warriors striking first in the 77
th minute as
Noe Garcia beat his defender in a one-on-one matchup and finished past the far post, but the Wildcats tied the match up just seven minutes later on a free kick.
Malte Dennert had a change to give Tech the win in regulation with just a couple minutes remaining, but Wildcat keeper Aaron Carr kept the game tied to send it into overtime, the second overtime match in three games for the Orange and Black. The hosts put home the game-winner just four minutes into extra time off a corner kick that was headed into the back of the net.
Ivan Safranic made three saves while Garcia finished with two shots on frame.
Tech (1-2-0) returns to action on Wednesday, September 4 as they continue their road trip with a visit to Huntington University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. from King Stadium.
