Tech Evens Record with Rout of Pilots

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team even their season record to the .500 mark Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field as they defeated regional rival Bethel University, 4-1.

Noe Garcia put the Warriors ahead 1-0 in the 22nd minute as he headed in the cross from Luke Jones that deftly slipped pasts the Pilot keeper. Bethel responded three minutes later though, as the converted a corner kick with a header of their own.

After a flurry of shots from the visitors that were all stopped by the Warrior defense before they could get to the goal, Pep Casas put the hosts back ahead as he whizzed one into the top corner of the goal from just outside the box.

Tech doubled up their score less than a minute apart from each other in the second half as Brendan Sidaway and Garcia scored in the 51st and 52nd minute, respectively, to make it a 4-1 game. Garcia took advantage of a through ball from Maxwell Amoako while Luke Jones set up Sidaway with a pass into the box.

The Orange and Black held off chances from the Pilots over the final 35 minutes to play to keep their home record, and record in the Summit City, spotless. Edwin Rosado made four saves in the win while Garcia finished with three shots on goal.

Tech (3-3-0) returns to action on Friday, September 20 as they host West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Center.
