Warriors Drop Nonconference Finale to Golden Bears

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team dropped its nonconference finale to West Virginia University Institute of Technology, 1-0, on Friday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.

The Golden Bears came out firing to begin the match against their former coach, with four shots and two corner kicks on the first five minutes. Luke Jones had a pair of chances go wide a few minutes later, with a header that went just over the crossbar, just minutes later.

The two teams battled to a scoreless draw at halftime, but WVU Tech wasted no time in the second half as they converted a corner kick into the lone goal of the match in 55th minute. After a 10-minute stretch that saw three cards given out between the two teams, both squads settled back into the flow of the game, with the Warriors pressing late to try and knot the game up.

Brendan Sidaway and Noe Garcia each had a chance to score the equalizer in the 84th minute, but WVU Tech keeper Jorge Martinez was able to stop both shots and preserve the shutout for the visitors.

Edwin Rosado finished the game with five saves.

Tech (3-4-0) returns to action on Saturday, September 28 as they welcome in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) for Aquinas College to begin conference action. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
