FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team opened up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field as they defeated Aquinas College 7-2.
The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of game thanks to goals from
Scott McCarthy and
Noe Garcia, who scored just 47 seconds apart from one another. The Saints would gather themselves though, and come back to goals in the 13
th and 26
th minutes to knot the match up at 2-2.
Another pair of quick strikes from Tech propelled them back ahead however, with
Will Harris and
Maxwell Amoako scoring in the 36
th and 37
th minutes, respectively, go give the hosts a 4-2 lead at the half.
The Orange and Black continued to control the action in the second half and added three goals in the final 25 minutes of the game, with Amoako scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to notch his first career hat trick.
Edwin Rosado made five saves in the win while
Ryan Steele,
Brendan Sidaway,
Pep Casas and Garcia all notched assists.
Tech (4-4-0, 1-0-0 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, October 2 as they host Lourdes University in a conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field and the match will kick off Homecoming Weekend with an Orange Out.
