FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell to Aquinas College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Saints jumped out to the early advantage over the Warriors with goals in the 13
th and 15
th minute to gain the momentum.
Lily Rothert had a great opportunity to cut the deficit in half but her shot hit off the bottom of the crossbar and the visitors took the 2-0 lead into the half.
Tech came out with a fire lit under them to being the second half with three shots in the first three minutes of the period, with shots from
Stephanie Torres and
Elaina Monroe sailing just over the crossbar. Aquinas would settle down the match though and tacked on their third goal of the game in the 68
th minute while allowing just one shot on goal down the stretch.
Monroe recorded a team-best three shots on goal while
Ally Zenda made five saves in the loss.
Tech (4-4-0, 0-1-0 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, October 2 as they travel to Lourdes University. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from Wildcat Stadium.
