FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team extended its season-opening win streak to four games Saturday afternoon as they defeated Judson University, 2-1, at Warrior Athletic Field. It's the Warriors first four-game win streak since the end of the 2018 season when they also won four straight before falling in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament.
The Warriors controlled the action throughout the game, outshooting the Eagles 24-8 and holding a 17-4 advantage on shots on goal, but couldn't break into the scoring column in the first half as Judson keeper Marissa Fetters made 11 saves in the first 45 minutes.
Kristen Roe got the Orange and Black on the scoreboard in the 48
th minute as she converted Tech's first penalty kick of the season while
Stephanie Torres made it a 2-0 game as she bounced on a rebound in the box and headed in for her first collegiate goal in her first game of the season.
The Eagles made things interesting down the stretch as they cut the deficit to one after scoring on a free kick in the 88
th minute, but the Warriors were able to maintain possession in the final two minutes to keep their record spotless.
Ally Zenda made three saves in the win while Roe recorded five shots on frame.
Lily Rothert and
Elaina Monroe each had a pair of shots on goal.
Tech (4-0-0) returns to action on Friday, September 13 as they travel to Taylor University for a nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Turner Stadium.
